About Ocolta

Ocolta is a document-integrity checker that inspects bank statements and paystubs for editing traces, broken arithmetic, and generator fingerprints for landlords, property managers, lenders, and bank fraud desks who have to decide whether to trust a file someone sent them.

Products

What Ocolta does

01

Integrity Scan (free)

Reads a PDF, PNG, JPG, or WebP file up to 15 MiB in your browser and reports what the file itself shows: editing software named in the metadata, revision history, embedded scripts, and a SHA-256 fingerprint. It also reconciles the numbers you type from a statement or paystub. You get a downloadable evidence record, and the file is never uploaded.

02

AI Deep Review ($5 per document)

An opt-in, model-assisted second pass on one document up to 5 MiB and 25 PDF pages. It lists each signal, where it appears, and what a person should verify next. It asks for explicit consent before the file leaves your device.

03

Deep Review+ ($10 per document)

Everything in Deep Review, plus a check of the institutions printed on the document (employer, bank, payroll provider) against public sources, with cited links. Only institution names, printed business addresses, and domains are researched, never people, and a “not found” result stays inconclusive.

04

Document requests (free)

Ocolta emails a private upload link to the person who owes you a document and scans what comes back on the server, so the sender cannot tamper with the result. You read the findings at a private tracking link. Keeping the file is off by default.

05

Scoped paid-review API

Teams that already bought credits can run paid reviews from their own tools through app.ocolta.com/api/v1, with expiring grants, explicit document consent, and a credit ceiling. It spends existing credits and never makes an approval or denial decision.

Differences

What makes Ocolta different

01

The free scan never uploads the file

Integrity Scan runs entirely in your browser, with no account and no limit on scans. Applicant bank statements and paystubs stay on your device unless you choose a paid review and accept the upload disclosure.

02

Priced per document, starting at $5

A single review is $5, Deep Review+ is $10, and packs run from $19 for five to $139 for 25 Deep Review+ credits. Inscribe, for comparison, publishes custom pricing based on document volume and quotes it after a demo. Ocolta has no subscription, minimum, or contract.

03

Sized for one file, not a portfolio

Snappt packages identity, income, and document verification into bundles for property-management communities. Ocolta is built for the reviewer with one application in front of them today, such as an independent landlord or a small leasing office. Check any vendor’s current terms directly; Ocolta only publishes its own.

04

Published rules and fingerprints

The scoring ruleset is published on the methodology page, and every finding names the signal it saw. The scanner carries genuine-format fingerprints for 20 institutions (12 banks and 8 payroll providers) and 10 document-generator signatures, each with the ordinary explanations that could produce the same result.

05

Evidence, not verdicts

Ocolta keeps “unable to determine” as a real outcome and never labels a person a fraudster. It is not a tenant screening service or a consumer report, and it touches no credit, eviction, or criminal data. A signal is a reason to verify at the source, not a decision.

Audience

Who uses Ocolta

  • Independent landlords with small portfolios who review a handful of rental applications a year
  • Leasing teams at small and mid-sized property-management companies that want one consistent document checklist
  • Lenders and loan processors who review applicant bank statements and paystubs before authorized source verification
  • Fraud, BSA, and compliance desks at banks and credit unions checking authorized statements
  • Anyone who needs a document from a third party and wants it scanned on arrival through a document request

Team

The team behind Ocolta

Ocolta started in August 2026 from a plain gap: the tools that check whether a bank statement or paystub was edited are sold to large organizations, while the landlord or loan officer holding one PDF has nothing but their eyes. So the first product was a free check that runs on the reviewer’s own device, with the rules published.

The Ocolta team is small and works with AI-assisted development tools. There is no sales team or account-manager layer: the people who build Ocolta are the people who answer its email.

Working with Ocolta

How Ocolta works

Ocolta is self-serve. You can scan, buy, and download a report without talking to anyone, and when you do want a person you work directly with the team that builds it.

  1. Run the free Integrity Scan. No account, no upload.
  2. If a file needs a second pass, buy one review or a pack in the review workspace. Checkout is one-time.
  3. Accept the upload disclosure, submit the document, and read the report in the same browser session. A recovery copy stays available for 24 hours.
  4. Verify anything material at its source, using the next checks the report lists.

Communication. Email hello@ocolta.com for product, workflow, and team questions, or security@ocolta.com for responsible disclosure. Banks and credit unions can ask about desk capacity at the same address.

Response time. The reply target is two business days. It is a service target, not a contractual guarantee.

Turnaround. The free scan reports as soon as your browser has read the file. A paid review returns its report in the same session; it is not queued for a human.

Never email applicant documents, credentials, or unredacted financial information. Describe the question first.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Does Ocolta prove a document is fake?

No. Ocolta reports signals it can observe in the file and in the arithmetic, such as editing software in the metadata or a running balance that does not add up. Each one is a reason to verify at the source, not proof of fraud or of authenticity.

Does the free scan upload my file?

No. Integrity Scan runs in your browser and Ocolta never receives the document bytes. A file only leaves your device if you buy an AI Deep Review and accept its upload disclosure.

Do I need an account or a subscription?

No. The scan is free with no account, and paid reviews are one-time purchases starting at $5. Credits are tied to the browser that bought them, so keep using that browser.

Is Ocolta a tenant screening service or a consumer reporting agency?

No. Ocolta does not pull credit, eviction, criminal, or rental-history data, and it is not a consumer report. Deep Review+ researches institutions named on a document, never people.

Who builds and runs Ocolta?

The Ocolta team builds the product with AI-assisted development tools and answers support email directly.

How do I reach someone?

Email hello@ocolta.com for product questions or security@ocolta.com for security reports. The reply target is two business days. Describe the question first and never attach applicant documents.
